The Loss of a Great Friend and Leader

Sad news – our GBS Co-Founder and long time friend, Gordon Hill, passed suddenly over the weekend. He was a great leader and confidant in many ways – life as well as business. Very few people have the ability to see things at a high, strategic level and also have the capability to roll up their sleeves and get it done. Gordon was that kind of person. His leadership will be missed, but, more importantly, we will miss his friendship. I know I will. The people he mentored over the years are everywhere.
All our prayers and best wishes are with his family today.

I saw this post from Bob Beaudine recently about the importance of relationships in life…..

…..and he is right. In the end, it is ALL about relationships….business, personal and family.

I know from my own experience that it is easy to get wrapped up in the details of business – products, services, reports, etc. – and we forget the people side of the equation. Don’t think I am ignoring the importance of brands and branding – the consumer is part of this discussion too. Just remember, in the end, it is all about relationships. It is what really great leaders do well!

An Original ‘New Rule Maker’ Passes

Making a new brand successful today is extremely hard…..and complex. One of the key components is assembling a team – in the larger sense. Being able to attract top talent is important. Innovation

I just bought a new laptop, the old one that I had for 6 years died.  Obviously, I got every penny out of it.  My new PC has 5x the storage, 10x the speed, and tons more tools than my old one…..and it was 40% of the price of the one I just canned.  As I left the store, I thought, I can’t wait to see what the next one will do….and how its price will drop too.  Life is great!

Then it made me think of the larger point….in life and in business…..we all better be getting better.  I need to be doing the same thing my PC maker did.
